T-Shirt Necklace…oh my!

So, yes I’m one of those people that like to be creative at times and YES I am subscribed to marthastewart.com craft email list….(so what, I like it! 🙂 ).  I saw the e-mail on how to make a T-Shirt necklace and HAD to try it (I tried to make a t-shirt scarf and it didn’t look too great on…).  It’s very easy to do, I used an XL t-shirt because it was old and I was able to make 2 necklaces out of the one shirt (gave the other necklace to a friend!).  Take a look at the instructions and post pics of the ones that you make (let me know if you have questions/need help)! Have fun! (P.S. They had Queen Latifah on the Martha Stewart show making the necklace too!)

Tools and Materials

• Soft cotton T-shirt
• Ruler
• Scissors or rotary cutter

T-Shirt Necklace How-To
1. Lay the shirt on a flat surface; cut off the hem and discard. Then cut the body of the shirt horizontally into strips approximately 3/4 of an inch long. (They will actually be loops.)

2. One at a time, pull the loops open and stretch until the fabric starts to curl. Stack the loops on top of one another so that all the T-shirt side seams are in the same spot.

3. Once you have the thickness you desire, wrap the seams with a scrap piece of fabric (about 6 inches long) from the same shirt. Tuck the end of the scrap under itself.
